Have you lived or worked in a developing country? What did you learn?: I am living in Panama at the moment working hard on creating the Valley of the Moon project which is a part of the Natural Solutions Foundation's International Decade of Nutrition.
As part of the Foundation's work we travel to many parts of Africa and Asia and have lived in Thailand. What I have learned is far too vast for a short discussion. But what I have come to respect is the dignity, ingeniousness and perseverance of people everywhere in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Please describe the skills and abilities you have that you think will be useful for this project.: Vision, organizational skills, perseverance and being way, way outside the box, in addition to good analytical and communication skills help me greatly in the work of our Foundation. I am a physician using only natural treatments and I think my research skills are important, too.

What should other members of this network know about you, your background, or your experience?: Check out my bio on our website, www.GlobalHealthFreedom.org under the "About Us" tab. It's pretty much all there.

What critical concerns or issues should Piclopedia not fail to address?: It is critically important to take back the production of food, clean, safe, unadulterated, non genetically modified food, from the industrial food producers. To allow farmers to stay on their land and feed themselves, their families, communities and their societies, these farmers must re-learn how to grow food without chemicals, and must learn the remediation techniques which are essential for that process to take place.
The Natural Solutions Foundation's International Decade of Nutrition is an attempt to planetize that information.

Please describe any ideas you have for Piclopedia that might excite other members.: There is no reason for anyone on this planet to be hungry or under nourished. The will to change this lies with each of us. I'll check out all your websites. In the meantime, I encourage you to suggest what, say, half-dozen or so devices you think would be best to put at the top of the list for translation into "wordless plan language". We folk not in the developing world cannot answer that question a priori.

When working on a screenplay (yet to be published) my main character was on a Peace Corps-of-the-future assignment. They had old square buildings and bad water. Our hero set about to change that by inventing simple water purification devices (think steel cans painted black with evaporation system and mirrors to heat up the can) and round building making devices (think bicycle turned into rammed earth maker on a continuous round track) - anyway - real neat to hear from you. One other experiment I've tried - but not perfected is "wool-crete" using discarded fiber in the right mix of concrete - possibly with paper mash added.
