Profile Information

About Me:
Organic farmer, raising beef, chicken, fiber bearing animals, hay and produce. I am very inventive and have an artistic bent. I have a great interest in simple tools and have acquired many old simple tools at my farm.
Have you lived or worked in a developing country? What did you learn?
I haven't, although I did travel to remote regions in Australia where people have invented many simple devices - and they save water - as much as possible.
Please describe the skills and abilities you have that you think will be useful for this project.
I have many ideas and the skill of being able to render them as drawings on paper or in computer graphic programs. I haven't had an outlet for them up till now.
What should other members of this network know about you, your background, or your experience?
I am also a writer so I could also supply adequate technical writing with the project. I have been a volunteer of some sort all of my life. I was a VISTA volunteer and have worked in many diverse communities including Indian reservations and in prison. I am devoted to organic farming and locally produced items. We operate a fiber milling operation in addition to our farm work.
What critical concerns or issues should Piclopedia not fail to address?
Cooking without wood - water sterilization without electricity or fire.
Please describe any ideas you have for Piclopedia that might excite other members.
A round wall building machine using a used bicycle to ram earth.

Dear Peter,
Welcome, and thank you so much for joining us! (If you've been here a while I apologize for my lateness - I'm supposed to receive an email when someone joins but apparently it's not working.)
I'm excited to see that you have an interest in creating drawings. That's really where the rubber meets the road! Your timing couldn't be better: We need to create some exemplary drawings yesterday.
If you wish to see where the main nexus of activities right now, please go to http://sites.google.com/site/piclopedia/Home. That's where we're starting to build the actual site and are slowly migrating the materials from this site and the piclopedia.org sites, while also building the icon-oriented search capability and creating examples of universal design plans/designs.
How did you hear about Piclopedia?
Welcome aboard!
Best regards,
Daniel Wolf
